Dangerous pranksters riding in shopping trollies were spotted thrusting themselves into a main road in Nuneaton.

They were clocked kicking themselves off walls and lampposts to push themselves into Queens Road in front of moving vehicles at around midnight on Sunday.

A concerned driver, who did not want to be named, explained how he saw them near to the junction with the Cock and Bear bridge, Beaumont Road and Manor Court Road.

"They were throwing themselves into the road in the trolleys - cars were having to brake harshly and swerve to avoid them," the motorist explained.

He added that he raised the alarm with the police and gave full descriptions of the trio.

So concerned, he decided to stay in the area to ensure that the police arrived and caught them in action.

But he claimed they did not arrive instantly as promised.

"I called 101 who asked for a description and said other reports had come in that they were in trolleys next to the road," he said.

"The call handler said police are on their way on blue lights."

However, he said he waited around and no officers arrived, so he called again.

"I called 999 after I watched the three continue to intimidate a couple more cars that passed by," he said

"They then walked out of the bottom of Queens Road and out of my view."

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police Force said that officers did attend the scene within 25 minutes.

"All calls are assessed for risk and harm and we responded accordingly," the spokesperson said.
