Police uniforms and a stinger device were stolen from a police car while it was parked on a Coventry street.

Thieves took the equipment in two kit bags from the marked car on Pandora Road, Walsgrave, while officers were carrying out duties nearby.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said one woman had been arrested on suspicion of theft.

The items have not been recovered more than a month after the theft which took place on October 13.

The spokesman added the vehicle had been left locked and secure despite a witness claiming the car appeared to have been left unlocked.

Speaking to Coventry Live, the witness said "A police man came up in a vehicle in Pandora Road and walked off.

"The next minute, two lads on a moped came up and stole what they could out of the police car.

"They then came back on the moped and stole a lot more stuff.

"The car must have been left open, and they wiped all the stuff out of the car.

"They could have taken guns, grenades or smoke bombs."

The man said he phoned police to report it but nobody came out.

He said: "I phoned police to report it and they asked if they were black or white, and what reg it was.

"I don't think anyone came out though, the policeman came back to the car about half an hour later and then shut the boot and door then walked off.

"I didn't even see what was taken.

"One of the men on the bike was wearing a hoody and the other was wearing a balaclava."
