A group of youths turned on him
A good Samaritan who tried to break up a fight between a group of young men close to Coventry Transport Museum ended up becoming a victim when he was attacked by the gang.
The incident happened shortly before 10pm on Wednesday September 5.
An eyewitness contacted Facebook group The Cov Bible about it.
They said the man had attempted to break up an altercation involving some youths when they turned on him.
The eyewitness said he had been left “bloodied and in tears” and was tended to by a woman passerby.
In a post on Facebook on Thursday September 6, The Cov Bible said: “We have been contacted by someone concerned after they tended to an elderly gentleman yesterday who was left bloodied and in tears by a group of youths whom he tried to break up a fight between near the Coventry Transport Museum .
“The worst part? After it happened, the majority of people walked straight past him and carried on with their day.
“If you know who this man is, please get in contact so we can inform the lady who tended to him how he is doing.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said officers were investigating the incident and urged witnesses to come forward.
“Police are investigating reports of an assault in Hales Street, Coventry, at around 9.50pm on September 5,” the spokesman said.
“It is believed a man in his 50s was waiting for a bus, when a group of men approached him before one of them punched him in the face.
“The man suffered minor injuries and was taken home by officers.

It's not the first such incident either which is why I always avoid that area.
