Masses of rubbish is being dumped on private property in Tile Hill, leading to fears rats will spread
Residents say they are disgusted after a pile of rubbish including a fridge, broken tables and chairs was dumped on their property.
The mass of rubbish was dumped in private entries between houses in the Cotes area of Coventry.
Neighbours say their "health and safety" is at risk, and that the fly-tipping is also an environmental issue.
They've spoken out after saying the problem has been going on for over a decade.
Local resident Neil Worwood said: "Residents are disgusted by the attitudes of some people.
"They are taking advantage, putting people's safety and health at risk as well as being harmful to the environment.
"It's been going on for at least the last 10+ years. All the entry's in the Cotes have security gates, so the rubbish is being dumped by residents of the area.
"They have little consideration for others as well as their own safety and welfare. We have a lot of properties in the area that are rentals.
"These people when they leave, also leave their waste behind for others to clear. Once their tenancy has finished they couldn't care less.
"It's not just down to rental tenants. Some residents treat the entry as a dumping ground.
"As a child I always played in the entry. I would be afraid to let my daughter play in the entry at present.
"There are fridges, broken glass, pallets, masonry, metalwork. It wouldn't be safe. It's an embarrassment to the area."
Because the entries are private alleyways, the council is not responsible for the mess.
But council officers are going out to investigate and look for evidence of those responsible for dumping the rubbish.
