A police chase took place through a Nuneaton estate during the early hours of this morning – but the suspect remains at large.

Reports poured onto social media from people who live in the Camp Hill area who were woken at around 3.30am to the sound of screeching cars and sirens.

Warwickshire Police Force has confirmed to CoventryLive that there was a police pursuit in the area after a car failed to stop.

A force spokesperson explained that the car, which has not been identified, was followed from Edinburgh Road, taking in parts of Cedar Road.

It eventually stopped and was abandoned in Queen Elizabeth Road. The driver then fled from the scene.

While officers were unable to find the driver, they have seized the car and also a knife that was found inside.

Investigations are ongoing and any witnesses or those with any information should call Warwickshire Police on 101, quoting incident 38 of August 7.

Details can also be passed on to officers via the independent charity Crimestoppers, which is free to call from a landline and confidential, on 0800 555 111.
