Two Coventry teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of carrying knives after trouble broke out at Northampton's Carnival.

Police were called to The Racecourse in Northampton at around 6.30pm on Saturday, June 9, after receiving reports of a large number of people involved in a fight.

The drama not only saw two people arrested, but police also granted additional stop and search powers in the area.

Now Northamptonshire Police has denied rumours that people were stabbed and had acid thrown at them, and also that officers discharged a Taser while making an arrest.

Officers attended the scene and made two arerests.

A 16-year-old boy and 18-year-old man, both from the Coventry area, were both arrested on suspicion of carrying weapons.

Two knives were recovered by police.

They have both been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
