Two legends of rock are set to team up for a mammoth gig in Coventry next summer.

Simple Minds and The Pretenders are confirmed to be playing at Butts Park Arena, on Saturday August 18.

If that wasn’t big enough, they will also be joined by special guest KT Tunstall.

Appearing on stage together for the first time since Live Aid, in 1985, the gig promises to be historic, with a huge catalogue of smash hits between them.

They are set to perform in Coventry as part of their GRANDSLAM 2018 tour, which sees them heading across the country at a number of outdoor venues in August and September.

In addition to their classics, which includes six number one albums in the UK, Simple Minds will debut tracks from their upcoming album Walk Between Worlds, in front of a live audience.

Lead singer Jim Kerr said: “When we started Simple Minds, our objective was to be considered as one of the great live bands.

"A band that had the desire to go all around the world – playing everywhere and anywhere.

“That challenge is ongoing, and we will relish touring all over the UK next summer, getting up close to so many who have supported us over the years.”

The Pretenders meanwhile, will be celebrating the release of their 10th studio album Alone.

Tickets prices range from £37.50 (plus booking fee) to £60 (plus booking fee), and are set to go on sale on Wednesday, December 13 at 9am.

I thought the government said it was going to abolish booking fees?
