Armed police descend on Holbrooks after reports of serious incident

Reports coming in of major police activity in Kirkdale Avenue



Armed police have been seen on the streets of Holbrooks this afternoon.

There appears to be a major police incident underway in Kirkdale Avenue.

Several officers carrying firearms have been spotted.

A number of roads are said to have been blocked off.

Holbrooks raid was to arrest man wanted on recall to prison



A major police operation which involved armed officers and saw a residential street in Holbrooks closed off this afternoon was to arrest a man wanted on recall to prison.

Ryan McTighe, aged 30, featured on West Midlands Police force’s most wanted gallery and was arrested following a raid on a house in Kirkdale Avenue, Holbrooks, at around 2.30pm.

McTighe was also arrested for the cultivation of cannabis.

Officers with automatic weapons were spotted training their weapons on a property in the quiet residential street near the Ricoh Arena and a dog unit was also in attendance.
