The incident came as the weather turned more gloomy - although there were no reports of high winds.

The tree had cut off from its trunk and fallen onto the path and one lane of the road.

Police closed off Earlsdon Avenue South around 8.30am between the junctions of The Firs and Kenilworth Road.

Traffic was turning round in the road to turn back, which was causing more delays.

It isn’t known whether any motorists were driving past when ithe tree fell or if there were any injuries.

Traffic had started to return to normal around 10.30am but the incident caused rush hour delays for motorists.

West Midlands Police have been contacted for comment.
