One arrested and one taken to hospital after Willenhall shop fight

A man has been arrested and one person taken to hospital after a suspected shoplifter assaulted a security guard in Coventry.

Police were called to the Co-op store in Remembrance Road, Willenhall, after a guard tried to stop the suspected thief.

A 27-year-old man was arrested after the incident.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Police were called to Remembrance Road, Coventry just before 11.30am on Tuesday, February 14, to a report of a disorder.

“A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and assault.”

West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called outside the Co-Op on Remembrance Road in Willenhall this morning.

“One ambulance attended and we conveyed one patient to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”
