A prolific thief has been jailed for over seven months after stealing from a Coventry shop less than ONE HOUR after appearing in court for shoplifting.

Andrew Finnie added to his “appalling” record of crimes within minutes of walking out of Coventry Magistrates’ Court having been handed a conditional discharge.

He headed straight for TJ Hughes in the city centre where he nicked two pillows worth £30.

The 46-year-old, of Whitley Village, Whitley, was caught and appeared back before magistrates the very next day.

They handed him eight weeks behind bars after pleading guilty to the latest offence and then added on 24 more weeks after hearing that he had been before their colleagues the day before.

That time he had admitted stealing meat, cheese and washing detergents worth a total of £70 from One Stop in Quorn Way, Ernesford Grange.

The magistrates also cited his “appalling” record of convictions which total of 177 offences of dishonesty.

177 previous offences and still only gets a slap on the wrist. :clown:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

This is a bit of a coincidence, note the address:

Cases heard by Coventry magistrates on January 21 and 23
Martin Baker, 28, of Whitley Village, Whitley, admitted stealing meat worth £46 from Morrisons, two counts of stealing chocolate worth a total of £140 from One Stop, two counts of stealing meat worth more than £105 from Marks &Spencer and committing an offence while subject to a conditional discharge. He was given a community order including a drug rehabilitation requirement and ordered to pay £140 compensation and a £85 victim surcharge.

I suspect the name given in court is made up too?

I've always wondered about this Dutchman. If I were to be charged and gave a false name/address/dob would anyone check?
