Motorists are being warned to stop parking dangerously on the corners of residential streets in Nuneaton – or risk police action.

Concerns have been raised to members of Nuneaton West Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) about parking issues on the corners and junctions of Tomkinson Road, Clifton Road, Croft Road and North Street.

The biggest issue around the parking situation in the area is that, at times, it can be obstructive and dangerous for pedestrians and vehicles alike.

PC Esther Kinch of the team said: "Parking is an issue which always raises complaints from residents and businesses so we want to clarify the laws around it and send a message out that we appreciate that living on or near a main road with no off-road parking can be problematic for some; but there are laws that have to be followed."

The Highway Code states that a vehicle must not be parked partly or wholly on a footpath; that a vehicle must not cause and obstruction; that a vehicle must not be parked with 10 meters (32 feet) of a junction and that double yellow lines indicate a prohibition of waiting at any time even if there are no upright signs.

"We want people to be considerate and follow the law," PC Kinch said.

She added that members of the team will be carrying out patrols of the area and will take 'positive action' where necessary.

Perhaps they'd like to look around Coventry whilst they're at it? :stir:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
