Emergency services spent two hours at a woodland in Canley last night because they were concerned for the safety of a man who had climbed a tree.

Fire, police and the ambulance service all went to the woodland just off Charter Avenue after midnight last night.

A police spokesman said: “Officers attended the location with other emergency services and the man came down at just before 2.30am - where he was then taken for medical assessment.”

Police requested the attendance of both the ambulance and fire service who got to the scene to try and get the man down.

A spokesman from West Midlands Fire Service said : “We were called by police shortly after 12.30am this morning, and sent a crew from Canley to assist with the welfare of the man.”

“We were stood down at 2.24am when the ambulance took over for him to be assessed.”

West Midlands Ambulance said: “The police requested us to be in attendance at the scene where they were concerned for a male’s welfare.

“After he came down, we conveyed the patient to a mental health unit.”
