Simona Boca handed just an extra year's ban after flouting original disqualification

A banned driver seen using a phone at the wheel - and NOT wearing a seatbelt - was handed just a one-year disqualification.

Simona Boca, 22, was seen using her phone at the wheel of a red Mercedes on Foleshill Road before a check revealed she was already banned from driving.

An inspection of the car also revealed that neither Boca, or her front seat passenger who was under the age of 14, were wearing a seatbelt.

Boca, of Nuffield Road, Stoke, appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified and driving while using a mobile phone on August 24.

She also admitted driving while not wearing a seatbelt and carrying a passenger under the age of 14 in the front seat who was not wearing a seat belt.

She also faced - and pleaded guilty to - driving a vehicle without a valid test certificate, driving without insurance and driving a vehicle with illegal tyre tread,

Magistrates handed her a further one-year ban from driving and she was also fined £535 and ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £53 victim surcharge.
