Who went home... and who won Star Baker?
The "curse of Star Baker" has really kicked in as Tom Gilliford became the seventh hopeful to leave the Great British Bake Off tent tonight.
Tom admitted at the start of the episode that he was worried about the curse after triumphing in Botanical Week and he was right to be anxious, as desserts did not turn out to be his forte tonight.
Paul Hollywood complained that Tom's Millionaire's Shortbread roulade was "cloy-y", he was second from bottom in the technical challenge, and his showstopper mini mousse cakes… weren't really mini mousse cakes.
"The curse of the Star Baker well and truly struck for me after winning Star Baker for the second time in last week's episode," Tom said. "But I was so pleased just to get onto the show in the first place, and my wife said I wouldn't get to episode two!"
Charming.
But Tom added: "I felt in episode one that everyone was better than me, so I couldn't believe it when I got to the final six, but by that time I felt that I earned my place."
And he revealed that he wants people to "embrace failure", saying: "I want people to know that it's okay for things to go wrong. I embraced that on the show - it's important to take risks and sometimes I pulled it off and sometimes I didn't. But if you don't try new things then everything stays the same."
Paul had some kind words for Tom, too, saying: "To get through to this stage in The Great British Bake Off, he should feel very proud of himself."
But there was much better news for Andrew, who FINALLY won Star Baker. We've only been waiting for this forever.
He definitely deserved it, too, after winning the technical challenge, producing "melt in the mouth" sponge for his roulade, and turning out beautiful ice cream-themed mini mousse cakes that Paul dubbed "divine". Got any spare, Andrew?
The Great British Bake Off continues next Wednesday (October 12) at 8pm on BBC One with a brand new challenge - Tudor Week. We're off to buy a ruff.
