Staff at a Coventry restaurant have been left devastated after their beloved pet fish was stolen by unhappy customers.

Fin the goldfish was taken from Asiana Modern Indian Cuisine, in Holbrook Lane, Holbrooks , on Sunday evening after bosses were confronted by a group who were not satisfied with their service.

A post on the restaurant’s Facebook page by the manager, Taz, said: “We would like to share a thought, a thought that has a left a sour taste.

“Our very popular goldfish, Fin, got stolen in his bowl from our restaurant by some girl, who was dining with four others including some very abusive males.

“They had started the evening causing nuisance and as the evening got busier in the restaurant they kept finding faults, eventually after the meals had been finished one of the coward males came downstairs and complained that he didn’t enjoy his visit, therefore demanding not to pay.

“As the manager tried to compromise with the him, another man comes guns blazing and takes a leap at the manager.

“As we go by a ‘self defence, no offence’ policy, and most defiantly don’t tolerate abuse of any sort, they were asked to leave.

“Whilst we got distracted by these so-called men, the girls decided to take our fish bowl with the fish that’s been with us for four years.

“We are very saddened and will miss our little Fin and without a doubt these idiots are only going to mess about and most likely break the bowl and losing the life of our beloved fish.”

The restaurant say they will notify police of the theft and urge the culprits to bring Fin home.

Taz added: “If by any chance any of the idiots in question happen to read this post, then please kindly, if you still have him, please return.

“To our dear customers, apologies on the terms we have expressed, as one can appreciate the extent of frustration this has caused us.

“We have never ever been targeted and nor have we ever experienced such foul clients.

“We live to love our curry lovers, and will continue to do so. Peace, love & harmony.”

Fin the goldfish is back after being stolen by diners

:fish:

The manager of a popular Indian restaurant in Coventry has said how the Telegraph helped them get their prized goldfish back.

Fin was stolen from the Asiana Restaurant on Holbrook Lane on Sunday night by customers who were unhappy with the service they received.

But after the Telegraph first reported the theft on Monday it led to hundreds of people getting in touch with manager Taz Ahmed, including the thieves.

Taz said: “Within the first day of it being shared on social media and reported by the Telegraph, my phone has been going non-stop.

“There were regular customers who were getting in touch saying they couldn’t believe he had been taken.

“It was a shock to us to be honest when we saw he had gone from upstairs.

“My colleague is normally the one who feeds Fin and sees to him, and even children who visit us like to see and feed him, so it was a real loss to us when he had gone.

“We were so shocked that someone had actually taken him and the bowl with them.”

The incident came after Taz was dealing with a group, who were intoxicated and were complaining about the service.

They posted on their social media that Fin had been stolen after the altercation on Sunday night, and had overwhelming support, and there were comments to even name and shame the people who complained that night.

Taz said: “Their complaint was in fact because the phone kept ringing.

“They were getting annoyed at the phone going off, but I said I couldn’t do much if there isn’t anyone to answer as we are a busy restaurant and we would try our hardest to answer it.

“One of them came downstairs and actually swung to hit me, so after that I told them to get their bill and leave.”

Taz received a phone call from a member of the group to apologise and he said they were ‘ashamed of their actions’.

He said: “When I spoke to him I told him all they have to do is bring Fin back and it won’t go any further.

“All we wanted was our pet back, a lot of people love Fin and because of this, he had been taken away.”

Members of the group turned up before opening on Tuesday evening to return Fin.

Taz added: “Without a doubt, it has been down to the Telegraph and power of social media, we wouldn’t have got Fin back.

“He’s now proudly back in his spot on the bar where he belongs.”
