A Coventry radio presenter has spoken out after she was racially abused in Coventry city centre yesterday (Wednesday).

Trish Adudu, the breakfast show host for BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, was called a ‘n*****’ by a man riding on a bicycle while she walked to her car on Cox Road at 9.30am.

Ms Adudu tweeted about the incident, claiming she saw the cyclist tell an Asian man to ‘go home’ before turning on her an yelling the racial slur.

Calling on people to work together to stamp out this ‘vile abuse’, Ms Adudu said: “I would love for the other man who was there to come forward, because this is not just about me.

“If the guy on the bike could be so vile in such a short period of time, then what else could he go on to do? Who’s next?

“Someone is going to get hurt.”

The incident comes just days after West Midlands Police Chief Constable Dave Thompson promised a zero tolerance stance on hate crime following last week’s referendum result.

Inspector Alastair Orencas is leading the investigation and has vowed to use all available resources to track down the person responsible and bring them to justice.

The suspect is described as a pale white man, clean shaven, of small, thin build, aged in his mid-20s.

He is also appealing for the Asian man who was also abused by the cyclist to come forward.

Insp. Orencas said: “There is absolutely no place for this type of sickening and deplorable behaviour on the streets of our city and we will be doing everything we can do identify the perpetrator.

“If anyone can tell us who this person is, or if anyone was in the area at the time and has information which they think may assist us, I would urge them to come forward.

“I would also appeal directly to this individual – if it was you who shouted these words, do the right thing and hand yourself in.”

Anyone who thinks they may have experienced or witnessed hate crime is urged to report it by calling West Midlands Police on the 101, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, or report it via the True Vision website.

I don't condone racism in any way, shape or form; but after her performance on Midlands today last night she deserves an Oscar.

This woman has spent how many years in the media, yet breaks down in front of an interviewer just because someone uses the naughty 'N' word?

Sorry Trish, it's not good enough.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

They use the N word amongst them selves and I thought the same perhaps she was pealing onions prior.

Prior to the Events of the link below on Blair and Brown government I was questioned at my door by an opinion poll what I thought of mass immigration to England I said this would re start racisum off again when it had settled also it would become bigger than in past times and it did and now we are seeing the result of it and those immigrants in past times are now going through it again .

In many ways we are seeing a parallel to how the 30s developed in Germany. I have a feeling that things aren't going to be particularly pleasant over the coming years.

Tensions are rising, and there will certainly be flash-points, but as I've said before, wanting to look after one's own and protecting one's own way of life and standard of living must not be confused with racism. And it must also be remembered that racism cuts more than one way.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

I fully agree with you Rebbonk we have schools asking children to reveal what goes on in our areas on the streets eg drugs what happens at home what their parents do what other pupils parents are doing with their children eg abuse drugs etc this is Hitler Tatics teaching our kids to be snitchers. Recently asking the children of an infant junior school the reasons why they want in or out of the referendum in class then getting them to vote in the school one school being mainly muslim day after the Britex was won you could cut the atmosphere with a knife when the parents went to pick their children up.
Recently trying pit again old or parents against their young with saying the 45 s 50 overs have ruined their kids lives voting out then the elderly pensions are depriving the youngesters future and should be given up for the youngsters future I find this dangerous.

I derive from both Welsh parents which my dad was a miner both came here and worked in the factories during the war both had racisium thrown at them they were not given private homes or council they had to rent . Being a miners daughter you are looked down upon here unless you do really well like most of my sisters. I was born here in Coventry was refused to be housed with 2 children and left living on the streets did I cry or shout racisium when called because my parents were Welsh and came from a mining back ground no I had to work my way up and fight to be housed ask Councilor Sawdon whom I confronted when we over took the council offices in protest.
