A knife-wielding man who left his stabbing victim with a punctured lung outside Coventry SkyDome has been jailed for a decade.

Lionel Sop was arrested after a 29-year-old man was badly injured outside the nightspot in the early hours of August 30 last year.

As well as the punctured lung, the victim suffered various slash injuries outside the entertainment complex at 3.40am.

Sop, 22, of George Hodgkinson Close, Tile Hill, pleaded guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing an offensive weapon in public and was sentenced at Warwick Crown Court on Thursday.

He was handed nine years behind bars for wounding and two years to run concurrently for possession of an offensive weapon.

The sentence also had an extra 12 months added on for drug offences, making a total of ten years in prison.

A warrant is currently out for a second man arrested in connection with the incident - Imran Nsubuga, whose address was previously given in court as Whitley Court, Coventry - who failed to show at his latest court hearing.

The 20-year-old is facing charges of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, violent disorder and possessing an offensive weapon in public.
