The incident happened at junction 5, near to the Ibis Hotel and the exit for Quinton Road, at 3.05pm and saw part of the Ring Road closed off by police for around 40 minutes.
A spokesman for West Midlands Police say the man had fallen on to the slip road and has been taken to hospital by ambulance crews.
Traffic is still moving slowly on the Ring Road in both directions around junction 5 having been at a standstill.
The Telegraph has contacted West Midlands Ambulance Service for further details about the man’s condition, but as yet they have not responded.
There are also delays on the Ring Road at junction one, at the Foleshill Road exit, because one lane has been shut so emergency repairs can be carried out.
