Murder probe after 'assault' outside Leamington Spa bar

A man has died after suffering serious head injuries in an alleged assault in Leamington Spa.



Two groups are believed to have been involved in an altercation outside Moo Bar on Russell Street at about 01:00 BST.

A man in his 20s was assaulted and taken to hospital but died from his injuries, Warwickshire Police said.

Two 30-year-old men from Birmingham have been arrested on suspicion of murder.

The force is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Man appears in court over death of Coventry business owner Robert Bavington



A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter after the death of Robert Bavington in Leamington.

The 28-year-old from Rugby died following an incident outside Moo Bar, in Russell Street, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Vijay Masih, aged 30, of Brook Road, Willenhall, near Wolverhampton, was arrested, charged with manslaughter and appeared at Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The case was adjourned for trial on May 13 and Masih was granted conditional bail.

Police launched an investigation after the incident outside Moo Bar at around 1.20am on Sunday when an altercation broke out between two groups of people.

Mr Bavington, who runs a business at Fargo Village in Coventry, was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and died later that morning at 6.35am.

Police subsequently arrested two 30-year-old men. One was Masih and the other was released without charge.
