A Coventry man has been sentenced to eight years in prison for producing crystal meth.

Officers found £3,000 worth of the drug - chemical name Methylamphetamine - in Tomasz Kajut’s car after he was stopped in Rugby last June.

The drugs, along with equipmnent used in its production, were seized and Kajut, 36, of Swan Lane, Stoke, was arrested.

He appeared at Coventry Crown Court on Wednesday and pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the production of Methylamphetamine, as well as driving without insurance.

He was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison for the counts of drug production and received six penalty points for the driving offence.

Det Sgt Steve Flavell, from Rugby CID, said: “This is the only seizure of crystal meth that I have dealt with in my nine years working for Warwickshire Police.

“Hopefully the substantial sentence handed down by the court will send out the right message that drug offences will not be tolerated within our county, and all offenders will be dealt with robustly.”
