Woman guilty of owning three dangerously out of control dogs

Three dogs which were dangerously out of control in Coventry will have to be destroyed unless their owner keeps to strict conditions.

Fiona Ann Williams, aged 48, of Sampson Close, Bell Green, appeared at Coventry Magistrates’ Court on January 5.

Williams denied two charges of being in charge of the three crossbreed dogs - named as Buster, Cheyanne and Shaolo - which were dangerously out of control and which injured two women in Sampson Close on July 9 last year

But magistrates found her guilty on both counts and ordered her to get the dogs destroyed unless she adheres to a number of strict conditions.

The dogs must be microchipped and registered within one month, kept on a secure lead no longer than two metres when in public, securely muzzled when in public and never be exercised together by a single person.

Williams must also take out third party liability insurance on all the dogs within one month.

Williams was also told to pay a total of £1,750 compensation - £1,250 to one victim and £500 to the other - and is also subject to a community order, which includes a night-time curfew between 7pm and 7am for six weeks with an electronic tag.

Two metres is quite long for a lead.

My dog is powerful and even a 1 metre lead is more than enough! The longer the lead, the less control you have over the dog.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
