The X Factor bowed out with a series high for last night's grand final, according to overnight ratings data.
8.21m (33.8%) tuned in from 8pm on ITV to see Louisa Johnson's victory, along with performances from special guests One Direction, Coldplay and Adele (+1: 142k.0.7%).
However, overnight ratings for the grand final were down around a million on last year's comparative ratings of 9.22m.
Although The X Factor narrowed the gap to its primetime rival Strictly Come Dancing, it was the BBC One show which ruled Sunday night primetime.
Anita Rani's elimination was seen by 10.81m (43.8%) - the second-highest overnight ratings of the year so far for the dancing competition.
Elsewhere on BBC One, Countryfile continued with 7.28m (33.9%) from 6.20pm, while Antiques Roadshow picked up 6.12m (24.8%) from 8pm. David Attenborough's The Hunt concluded with 3.83m (15.9%) at 9pm.
ITV's Jekyll and Hyde continued with 1.73m (7.2%) at 7pm.
A BBC Two Horizon special on astronaut Tim Peake brought 978k (4.0%) to the channel at 8pm, days before he's due to take flight to the International Space Station.
Monty Don's The Secret History of the British Garden finished with 1.2m (5%) at 9pm, while Professor Green's BBC Three documentary Suicide and Me aired to 477k (2.9%) with a repeat broadcast at 10pm.
Channel 4's Britain's Wildest Weather 2015 brought in 1.05m (4.2%) at 7.30pm (+1: 166k/0.7%), followed by 1.06m (4.4%) for Homeland at 9pm (+1: 181k/1.1%).
Over on Channel 5, Albert Finney and Alec Guinness's Scrooge entertained 718k (2.9%) at 7.45pm. The Xtra Factor brought 666k (4.2%) to ITV2 at 10.05pm.
