The fire started in a store cupboard on the fourth floor of the Britannia Hotel in Fairfax Street, Coventry city centre, just before 9am on Sunday.

Around 170 guests were evacuated from the building.

Two West Midlands Fire Service crews from Coventry Community Fire Station in Radford Road and one fire crew from Binley Fire Station were called to the hotel.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the fire. They cleared the smoke and made the area safe again.

After about an hour the guests were allowed back into the hotel.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

An investigation by police and fire crews has been started after the cause was described as arson.

Having had to evacuate a hotel in the early hours of a very cold morning, I can tell you this isn't very pleasant.

I hope that the guilty party is apprehended before (s)he causes further trouble.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
