EastEnders claims 6 million with Phil Mitchell return

EastEnders topped Tuesday's ratings (October 27) with the fallout from Phil Mitchell's return, overnight figures show.

6.04m (31.1%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One as Phil was revealed to be a broken man following his kidnap ordeal, leaving Ben to wonder how far evil Gavin had gone. BBC Three's repeat added 377k (2.3%) at 10pm.

Emmerdale wasn't far behind, bringing in 5.8m (30.5%) at 7pm on ITV and 169k (0.9%) on +1 as Ross and Pete's explosive feud came to a head in a dramatic episode.

Holby City attracted 4.35m (21.8%) at 8pm on BBC One as Cara's lies caused problems.

Hollyoaks remained relatively steady, claiming 815k (4.4%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as the new Nightingale family continued to settle in (+1: 68k / 0.4%), while E4's first look had 638k (3.4%) at 7pm and 108k (0.6%) on +1.

Doctors aired to 1.44m (19.9%) at 1.45pm on BBC One as Valerie made another return to The Mill.

Neighbours interested 574k (7.8%) at 1.45pm and 750k (4.8%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Steph found herself under suspicion following Jimmy's disappearance.

Home and Away mustered 235k (3.2%) at 1.15pm and 609k (3.4%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 271k (1.5%) at 6.30pm.
