First image of 1,200-room student flats building on former Royal Mail site
The first image of a planned £73million student accommodation development in the city centre has been released.
Coventry University and Barberry Developments have released the artists’ impression just days after the last chunk of the former Royal Mail sorting Office, in Bishop Street, was pulled down.
The ‘BishopGate’ development will sit on the now vacant land opposite the Canal Basin and will include 1,200 student rooms with en-suite facilities, communal areas, seminar rooms, TV and games rooms, study rooms and a launderette.
A planning application has already been submitted to Coventry council by the two organisations and construction will begin once it is approved. If approved the first rooms will be available in three year’s time.

The view of the spires was blocked before, so it's hardly a huge change.
Not that most people care too much if they can see those spires.

Wow, you're as Coventry as can be. Cut you open and you bleed sky blue. You should run for MP and get the road works sorted.
