Police and paramedics were called to The Moorfield at 3.40pm today to reports that a man had been seriously injured.

When they arrived they found a man with what officers described as “life threatening injuries”.

The air ambulance and land ambulances have also been called to the road, near the junction with The Barley Lea and The Coppice.

A spokesman for the police described the man’s condition as critical and urged anyone with information about the incident to contact officers who have launched an investigation.

It's understood the incident happened in the street and not in one of the nearby houses.

Forensic investigators have been sent to the road and eyewitnesses have reported a large number of officers in the area.

The Moorfield is currently cordoned off.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they were called to The Moorfield, near the junction with The Farmstead at 3.50pm.

An ambulance and a paramedic officer attended, as well as the air ambulance.

The spokesman said they took a man to hospital with multiple injuries.

Witnesses in the area say police are currently searching the street and nearby houses as well as talking to witnesses.

No arrests have been made so far.

If you can help officers call police on 101.

If you don’t want to talk directly to police call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

Man jailed for 10 years for knife attack after mum hands him in to police

A man who took part in an attack that saw his friend repeatedly stabbed at a family barbecue has been jailed for a decade after being handed in to police by his mum.

Juma Munyankore took part in the “outrageous” attack which saw the victim stabbed several times with a double-edged, half-moon shaped dagger after being cornered in a Coventry garden.

The frenzied attack on September 11 last year happened in a communal garden behind The Moorfield, Stoke Aldermoor , and was witnessed by a six-year-old child.

The 26-year-old victim − who’d known his attackers for seven years − was airlifted to hospital with critical stab injuries to his chest and legs. One of the wounds punctured a lung, his diaphragm and liver.

Munyankore, from Middleborough Road, Radford , was handed over to Coventry Central police station by his mother on September 16 just hours after officers had raided his homes.

Meanwhile, Somalian national Hamza Mohumed, also known as KG, was arrested by police two days after the attack from his home in The Bentree, Stoke Aldermoor, where he was found in a bedroom hiding under a dressing gown.

Police say that he stabbed the victim several times.

Both Mohumed, 24, and 25-year-old Munyankore - also known as Scholar - were charged with attempted murder, but the court accepted their guilty pleas to a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

And at Warwick Crown Court on Friday, Mohumed was jailed for nine years four months after entering an early guilty plea, while Rwandan national Munyankore was given a prison sentence of ten years and nine months after only admitting the offence on day four of his trial.

Det Con Helen Keating said: “The victim came across his attackers while walking to a family friend’s house for a barbecue. He went to greet them and shake their hand but was met with punches and was headbutted.

“He ran into the garden but was followed by a group of men, including Mohumed and Munyankore, who had armed themselves with weapons and told the group to ‘stay out of it’ as they cornered their target.

“The attack left the man bleeding heavily and doctors said he was lucky to survive.

“It’s not clear what sparked the row but it was a vicious, outrageous attack in the middle of the afternoon and carried out just yards away from a young child.

“I would like to thank all the witnesses who supported our investigation and particularly those whose evidence helped us secure convictions against these two dangerous men.”

I trust that on release Munyankore will be immediately deported? :stir:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
