I think it's better to have a chatty cabbie than one that sits there and says nowt!!!

I rarely use cabs - they're so expensive - would much rather give a friend the petrol money to take me somewhere.

That's fine if you have friends who are willing to share the cost.
I've found the problem when you drive is - some folks expect a lift for nothing - and never offer you the petrol money. They seem to think you're a free taxi service

I always talk to the cabbies just to make sure they are not trying to take me the long way home I work in spon end at the old bowling green so if you want a lift dutchy
