Coronation Street was Wednesday's top-rated programme (May 6) with Gail's eventful return from her honeymoon, overnight figures show.
6.22m (32.2%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 170k (0.8%) on +1 as Gail arrived back to the surprising news of Sarah's new job, her new relationship with Callum, Erica's pregnancy and David's disappearance.
Emmerdale attracted 5.51m (31.0%) at 7pm on ITV as Marlon used shock tactics in a desperate attempt to get through to Laurel.
Hollyoaks entertained 793k (4.8%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as a spark became clear between Ste and Harry, while E4's first look followed with 459k (2.6%) at 7pm and 146k (0.7%) on +1.
Neighbours interested 623k (9.1%) at 1.45pm and 690k (5.2%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Bailey's bad behaviour continued.
Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.46m (21.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One - the show's highest rating since March.
