Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

So let's hit those that have given their all for this country, many fighting wars to keep us free.

Let's drive them into early graves.

Let's renege on the deal that if they contributed to N.I. all their working lives they'd be looked after....

But let's support the robbing, thieving bankers who brought this country to its knees; you know, those that any right minded individual would have in prison.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

How would they distinguish between elderly pensioners who were "fit for work" and elderly pensioners who were infirm?

You can no longer rely on the state to provide for your old age, that's for sure. My sisters have already been robbed blind, they were promised a pension when they reached the age of 60 and have now been told they must wait till they are 66.

As for private pensions, if your employer goes broke and your pension manager skips the country with your pension fund you're also screwed.

I've been on to my kids to start their pension funds.

I've suggested that they start cheap insurance policies that mature when they're about 60 and to drip feed money onto the stock-market with thoughts of withdrawing the money at a similar age. At least that gives them some control over their future.

Incidentally, I notice I've just lost tax relief on one of my insurance policies...
