Coventry Comfort Carers group reveals shocking plight of destitute people in the cityA volunteer group which helps homeless, desperate and destitute people across Coventry says numerous people are still sleeping rough in the city - including pregnant women and young families.
Coventry Comfort Carers, who set up in 2012, say the city has a hidden homelessness problem and more needs to be done to give people access to help and support.
Adam, aged 33, John, 32, and Andrea, 47, are in charge of a group of around 15 other volunteers who help people by offering them advice, food, warm clothes and accommodation.
They are not supported by any public cash - relying on supporters from all over the country and friends for donations of useful items and supermarket store cards.
Volunteers provide hot meals, toiletries, sleeping bags and lunch packs at a location in the city every Friday night.
They have also helped set up many other projects across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Adam, from Stoke Aldermoor, said they have came across numerous shocking cases since they started out - including a young disabled mother sleeping in 3ft of snow in a park, a family who begged them for food because they were literally starving, a pregnant woman and a lad who sold his fridge and freezer to buy something to eat.
