Allesley carjacker brutally beats woman with baseball bat

Postby dutchman » Mon Mar 30, 2015 3:04 pm

A woman was brutally beaten with a baseball bat during a failed carjacking in Coventry.

Police have launched an investigation after the attack on Saturday evening in Lyons Drive, Allesley.

The 36-year-old victim was confronted by a man who demanded the keys to her new blue Audi S3 at around 5.30pm.

She bravely refused but the attacker refused to take no for an answer, repeatedly hitting her around the head and body with the baseball bat.

He then ran off leaving her injured on the pavement.

Det Con Peter Waterman, who is investigating the attack, said: “The woman was taken to hospital with severe bruising and bleeding, but fortunately nothing was broken.

“This was a brutal attack and could have been far worse, so I am appealing to anyone who can help us catch the man responsible to come forward.“

It’s understood the woman had only picked up her new car at the start of the month.

Friends say she’s now looking to return it because she’s now too afraid to drive it.

It’s the second violent carjacking in Coventry this month - with thieves striking on March 15 in Stoke.

On that occasion they chased the male owner of a VW Golf R down before beating him up and stealing his new car.

Anyone who witnessed the attack should call Det Con Waterman on 101 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
