A woman is suing her plastic surgeon for $5 million (£3 million) after allegedly botched surgery left her with the appearance of having four breasts.
Mother-of-two Maria Alaimo, now 47, paid Doctor Keith Berman $7,000 for the procedure to increase her bust size to 36C for her 40th birthday, the Daily Mail reports.
Lawyer Michael Kuharski told jurors at the New York Supreme Court: "Maria came out of that operation with essentially four breasts."
The lawsuit adds that the operation resulted in "pain, disability, loss of self-esteem, humiliation and embarrassment".
Jurors heard that the March 2003 procedure left Alaimo with a "double-bubble" condition and heavy scarring, while a second op left her with more scars.
She reportedly refused the offer of a third operation and another plastic surgeon also failed to uplift her breasts.
However, Berman's lawyer Jerry Giardina countered: "She was only concerned with the glamour part, the end.
"Television and movie stars have plastic surgery all the time. Plastic surgery is trivialised but the reality is that plastic surgery is just that - surgery. There are no guarantees. What one person responds to, another does not."
