Emmerdale dips to 5.3m on Thursday after ITV schedule change

Emmerdale was hurt by ITV's scheduling on Thursday evening (February 19), dipping to its lowest audience of the year so far.

The long-running soap brought in 5.28m (25.2%) at the earlier time of 6.45pm on ITV and 203k (0.8%) on +1 as Andy contemplated suicide after Katie's funeral.

Emmerdale was moved to the earlier slot due to ITV football coverage, but faced a tough challenge on the night by going head-to-head with EastEnders' highly-rated 30th anniversary special for 15 minutes.

During the 15-minute clash period itself from 7.30pm, Emmerdale dipped to 4.49m (18.8%) compared to 9.57m (40.0%) for EastEnders.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks brought in 889k (4.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Joe discovered the real story behind Mercedes's disappearance. E4's first look followed with 643k (3.2%) at 7pm.

Neighbours attracted 584k (6.8%) at 1.45pm and 743k (4.7%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Chris changed his mind over the Lucy situation.

Home and Away managed 259k (3.0%) at 1.15pm and 592k (3.4%) at 6pm, while 5*'s first look followed with 344k (1.8%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.6m (18.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
