Broadchurch dips to 5.6 million for penultimate episode

Broadchurch dipped by around 200,000 viewers from last week, overnight ratings reveal.

The ITV drama's penultimate episode was seen by an average 5.67 million (23.9%) at 9pm, with an added 298k (1.9%) on +1. Earlier, Robson Green's More Tales from Northumbria opened with 3.61m (16.2%) at 8pm.

BBC One's live FA Cup coverage of Manchester United's win over Preston North End topped the night with 5.74m (24.6%) at 7.30pm.

Later, an EastEnders special of The Graham Norton Show entertained 2.21m (21.6%) at 10.45pm.

On BBC Two, University Challenge quizzed 2.44m (11.0%) at 8pm, followed by Only Connect with 2.07m (8.5%) at 8.30pm. A Cook Abroad appealed to 1.49m (6.3%) at 9pm, while House of Fools returned with 661k (3.8%) at 10pm.

Channel 4's Food Unwrapped attracted 1.08m (4.5%) at 8.30pm, while UKIP: The First 100 Days intrigued 916k (3.9%) at 9pm (171k/1.1% on +1). Catastrophe amused 509k (3.1%) at 10pm.

On Channel 5, My Daughter Stole My Husband fascinated 1.01m (4.4%) at 8pm, followed by Benefits Britain with 1.85m (7.7%) at 9pm (205k/1.3%) and 10,000 BC with 841k (5.3%) at 10pm.

BBC Three's Uncle returned for a new series with 246k (1.1%) at 9.30pm. E4's Taking New York dipped to just 47k (0.2%) at 9pm for its second episode (68k/0.4%).

On Fox, The Walking Dead thrilled 495k (2.1%) at 9pm, while ITVBe's Real Housewives of Cheshire gathered 309k (2.0%) at 10pm.
