David's disappointment seen by 8.2m on Coronation Street

Coronation Street continued to perform well on Monday evening (January 26) with both episodes above the 8 million mark, overnight figures show.

Corrie was the most-watched programme of the day, bringing in 8.16m (37.1%) at 7.30pm on ITV as David continued his search for Kylie and rising to 8.18m (34.6%) at 8.30pm and 111k (0.5%) on +1 as David's efforts suffered another setback.

EastEnders also had a good night, achieving its highest ratings since Emma's death on January 2 as 7.96m (34.4%) tuned in for Shabnam's turmoil over her secret. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 208k (1.5%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 6.72m (31.8%) at 7pm on ITV with the aftermath of Megan kidnapping Fake Archie.

Hollyoaks had 1.09m (5.6%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 with Ste's angry outburst and the revelation that Grace stabbed Mercedes, while E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 750k (3.6%) at 7pm and 126k (0.5%) on +1.

Waterloo Road interested 461k (1.9%) at 8.30pm on BBC Three with an eventful school trip for Bonnie, while BBC One's repeat managed 939k (9.1%) at 10.45pm.

Neighbours mustered 663k (8.8%) at 1.45pm and 786k (4.9%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as Sonya's efforts to help Erin led to a frightening ordeal.

Home and Away managed 260k (3.4%) at 1.15pm and 618k (3.4%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 359k (1.8%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.68m (22.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
