When will my bins be collected over Christmas and New Year?

Postby dutchman » Mon Dec 22, 2014 1:00 pm

Forgotten when the binmen are coming to collect your festive rubbish ? This should help

Bin collections from homes across Coventry and Warwickshire will change from this week for the festive season.

Residents in Coventry are being reminded there will be NO collections of any bins this week.

During the following week - from Monday, December 29 - green-lidded bins only will be collected across Coventry.

For the week beginning Monday, January 5, binmen will be collecting all green and blue-lidded bins. Residents are being urged to use the clear sacks provided for any extra recycling.

And if your green-lidded (household waste) bin is scheduled for collection on Thursday, January 1 – it will be collected the following day and for those due to be picked up on Friday, January 2 – it will be collected on the Saturday.

All collections in Coventry will return to normal on Monday, January 12.

There are only a few amendments to the collection schedule in Nuneaton and Bedworth and it affects only those who would normally have their bins emptied on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Anyone who would normally receive a collection on Thursday, December 25, will have their bins picked up on Saturday, December 20. And for collections scheduled for Friday, December 26, the bins will be collected on Saturday, December 27.

Bins due to be picked up on New Year’s Day will instead be collected on Saturday, January 3.

In Rugby, there will be no green-lidded bin collections this week, but all collections will continue as normal starting December 29 - including on New Year’s Day.

Collections across Warwick and Leamington will change starting this week. If your bins are due to be collected on Wednesday, December 24, they will be picked up on Tuesday, December 23.

Bin collections scheduled for Christmas Day will instead be picked up on Christmas Eve and if your bins are due to be collected on Boxing Day, they will instead be collected on Saturday, December 27.

Bin collections on New Year’s Day will be collected on Friday, January 2, and bins scheduled to be collected on Friday, January 2, will instead be picked up on Saturday, January 3.

All collections across the district will return to normal on January 5.

I usually post the City Council's guide to bin collection dates but there isn't one this year :fuming:

Must be down to the cut-backs. Not creating and publishing it will save lots and lots of money, allowing the fat cats at the top to claim they're doing their best and to continue bleeding the city dry. :stir:
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

I found it eventually:

http://www.coventry.gov.uk/christmasbincollections

They've redesigned the website for tablet and mobile users so there is now only a fraction of the information there used to be.

Got mine emptied last week anyway so I'm good for at least a fortnight.

The communal bins haven't been emptied around here. I don't use them myself but tenants on the upper floors rely on them. They're part of a private contract between the council and Whitefriars and should have been emptied today but weren't. The caretakers had even moved them to the roadside and unlocked the gates to make it easier for the bin men.

The communal bins were finally emptied this morning but not before Whitefriars was forced to hire a private skip to cope with the overload of refuse.

There was no regular bin collection around here today, despite the official schedule. I didn't think there would be myself and very few neighbours bothered putting their bins out.

Council bin-lorries were operating in the area but whatever it was they were collecting it was not domestic green-lid bins.

Our bins were finally emptied today, the first time in three weeks.

It doesn't bother me that much that they weren't emptied last week. What bothers is me is that they said they would be emptied when they had no intention of doing so.
