Coronation Street was Friday evening's top-rated soap (December 12) with the Gary and Alya storyline, overnight figures show.
6.89m (34.3%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 75k (0.3%) on +1 as Alya's family finally discovered her secret relationship with Gary, while 6.44m (29.4%) returned at 8.30pm and 194k (0.9%) on +1 to see Kal's furious reaction.
EastEnders pulled ahead of the second Corrie episode, attracting 6.65m (31.5%) at 8pm on BBC One with Sylvie Carter's brief visit to Walford. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 315k (2.0%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale interested 5.78m (30.3%) at 7pm on ITV and 102k (0.5%) on +1 as Zak discovered that Belle was Edna's burglar.
Hollyoaks appealed to 915k (4.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Tegan received confirmation that Rose and Dee Dee were switched at birth. E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 659k (3.5%) at 7pm.
Home and Away managed 229k (3.3%) at 1.25pm and 555k (3.1%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look had 366k (2.0%) at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, Doctors continued with 1.61m (24.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
