Great British Bake Off climbs to huge ratings of 8.10m

The Great British Bake Off climbed to new heights for its latest episode on Wednesday, overnight data reveals.

The BBC One series - which featured a particularly controversial moment - rose to 8.10 million viewers (35.6%) on average at 8pm, rising by around 700,000 viewers from last week.

Later, Last Chance Academy interested 2.45m (11.9%) at 9pm, while A Question of Sport quizzed 2.00m (15.5%) at 10.35pm.

On BBC Two, Young Vets appealed to 1.16m (6.1%) at 7pm, followed by Hotel India with 2.03m (8.9%) at 8pm. Horizon gathered 1.55m (7.5%) at 9pm.

ITV's Secret Life of Cats attracted 1.87m (8.2%) at 8pm (221k/1.1% on +1), followed by Secrets from the Asylum with 1.82m (8.8%) at 9pm (119k/0.8%).

On Channel 4, Double Your House for Half the Money was seen by 883k (3.9%) at 8pm (303k/1.5%), while Star Paws brought in 963k (4.7%) at 9pm (141k/0.9%).

Channel 5's Emergency Bikers continued with 613k (2.7%) at 8pm, followed by the latest Celebrity Big Brother with 1.74m (8.5%) at 9pm (152k/0.9%). Suspects thrilled 630k (4.0%) at 10pm.

BBC Three topped the multichannels with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull with 1.19m (6.6%) at 9pm.
