Martin Simpson and partner Chelsea Burke say they don’t feel safe in their home in Siddeley Aveune, Stoke following the weekend break-in.

Burglars stole their car from the driveway after picking up the keys inside the house.

The couple woke up on Sunday morning to discover the raid had happened during the night.

The thieves had fished the keys to the front door out through the letterbox and then searched the house while the couple were sleeping upstairs.

They then used the keys to drive off in the blue Renault Clio sitting on the drive, as well as stealing a number of items including a Playstation games console, a Samsung tablet, a laptop and an alcohol.

Martin, 24, who has lived in Siddeley Avenue with 21-year-old Chelsea for just over a year, said: “We came home on Saturday night, parked up and locked the front door but left the keys in the door.

“I woke up on Sunday morning and looked out of the window and the car was gone.

“Somehow they fished the keys out of the door using some sort of wire, and then ransacked the house and then took the car.

“It’s the car being stolen that is really annoying, but the police seem to think that it hasn’t been taken out of Coventry.

“My partner doesn’t feel safe in the house now just knowing that they had the balls to just come in through the front door.”

Anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
