Into the Unknown attracted 4.6 million (20.7%) at 8.30pm, around 2m higher than the timeslot last week.
On BBC Two, Springwatch appealed to 2.3m (10.6%) at 8pm, followed by A Very British Airline with 1.9m (8.7%) at 9pm.
ITV's Coronation Street special Gail & Me: 40 Years On was seen by 2.7m (12.9%) at 8pm (193,000/0.9% on +1). Road Rage Britain gathered 2.7m (12.5%) at 9pm (174k/1.1%).
On Channel 4, Breadline Kids intrigued 937k (4.6%) at 7.30pm (113k/0.5%). 24 Hours in A&E interested 1.5m (6.6%) at 9pm (358k/2.3%), followed by CCTV: Caught on Camera with 898k (5.9%) at 10pm (123k/1.5%).
Channel 5's Big Brother: Power Trip entertained 1.0m (4.7%) at 9pm (188k/1.2%), followed by a live special with 1.0m (6.1%) at 10pm (197k/2.1%).
On BBC Four, Only Connect puzzled 643k (2.9%) at 8.30pm.
E4's Made in Chelsea continued with 546k (2.5%) at a different timeslot of 9pm (254k/1.6%).
On Sky Atlantic, Game of Thrones thrilled 861k (3.9%) at 9pm.
