EastEnders pulled back ahead of Emmerdale in Tuesday night's soap ratings (October 29), overnight figures show.
7.11m (32.1%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One to see Alice promise to help Michael with his dark plan to get rid of Janine. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 419k (3.0%) at 10.30pm.
Emmerdale attracted 6.91m (32.8%) at 7pm on ITV and 193k (0.9%) on +1 as Laurel faced charges over her feud with carjacker Ross Barton.
Holby City interested 4.88m (21.6%) at 8pm on BBC One as Chantelle returned to work after the crash.
Hollyoaks brought 925k (4.6%) to Channel 4 at 6.30pm and 106k (0.5%) on +1 as Patrick turned violent with Maxine, while E4's first look followed with 647k (3.1%) at 7pm and 154k (0.7%) on +1.
Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 668k (9.0%) at 1.45pm and 828k (5.1%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 206k (2.7%) at 1.15pm, 655k (3.5%) at 6pm and 448k (2.2%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.
Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors appealed to 1.37m (18.5%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
