One Direction's 3D documentary This Is Us has stormed to the top of the UK box office on its first weekend on release.
The movie, directed by Morgan Spurlock and produced by Simon Cowell, earned more than £3.4 million to send Matt Damon's blockbuster Elysium into second place.
This Is Us' box office opening is by far the strongest for a recent 3D concert film. Previous offerings have failed to crack the £1 million mark, with Justin Bieber's Never Say Never getting closest in 2011 with £820,592.
By comparison, 2012's Katy Perry: Part of Me bowed to £449,491, Glee: The 3D Concert Movie earned £356,271 in 2011 and 2009's Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Performance took just £117,060.
This Is Us is also the number one movie Stateside with a $17 million haul over the Labor Day weekend.
Elsewhere in the UK, new releases Pain & Gain, The Way Way Back and You're Next all made a dent in the top ten.
The biggest faller is young adult novel adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, which lost 72% in ticket sales from last week to tumble down from number four to 12.
