Dead Island: Epidemic has been announced by Deep Silver.
The arena-based online multiplayer game will be released as a free-to-play title on PC.
Set in the "ever expanding world of Dead Island", the game will feature the series' "trademark" gameplay, as three teams face off in a bid to survive.
The game will be officially unveiled at this year's gamescom event in Cologne, which runs from August 21 until August 25.
Epidemic is the latest attempt by Deep Silver to expand the series, having previously signed a deal with Lionsgate to make a Dead Island movie.
The original Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide are currently available as part of the Deep Silver Humble Bundle.
Dead Island can be unlocked by paying above the average asking price, while Riptide is available by paying $25 or more.
