Thursday ratings: 'Happy Families' 2nd ep gains 500k viewers

Happy Families gained around 500,000 viewers for its second episode on Thursday night.

The reality documentary was seen by 2.40 million viewers (11.6%) at 9pm on ITV, with a further 199k (1.1%) tuning in on +1.

Earlier, Paul O'Grady's For the Love of Dogs topped the night overall outside of soaps with 4.52m (12.4%) at 8.30pm (264k/1.3% on +1).

On BBC One, Life Savers interested 2.93m (14.0%) at 8pm, while Russell Brand's appearance on Question Time was seen by 2.68m (21.7%) at 10.35pm.

BBC Two's Airport Live continued with 2.50m (11.6%) at 8pm. Documentary Flights & Fights: Inside the Low Cost Airlines educated 2.07m (9.9%) at 9pm. Mock the Week amused 1.68m (8.8%) at 10pm.

Channel 4's lineup performed poorly in comparison to its rivals, with Compare Your Life dropping to 376k (1.7%) at 8pm. First Dates attracted 710k (3.4%) at 9pm (126k/0.7%), while Bi-Curious Me entertained 586k (3.4%) at 10pm (116k/1.2%).

Channel 5 documentary The Girl with 7 Mums brought in 1.08m (5.2%) at 9pm. Big Brother continued with 1.24m (7.1%) at 10pm (117k/1.2%).

BBC Three's coverage of the Confederations Cup thrashing by Spain over Tahiti scored 1.45m (6.9%) at 7.30pm, while the game between Nigeria and Uruguay grabbed 760k (8.6%) at 10.30pm. Russell Howard's Good News rose to a new peak of 1.01m (5.3%) at 10pm.

On E4, The Big Bang Theory tickled 1.30m (6.1%) at 8pm (382k/1.8%), followed by How I Met Your Mother with 658k (3.1%) at 8.30pm (238k/1.1%).
