Fast & Furious 6 has topped the box office on its first weekend on release.
Vin Diesel's blockbuster sequel earned more than £8.7 million to race past The Great Gatsby and secure top spot at UK cinemas.

Diesel revealed plans for Fast & Furious 7 last week, saying that the sequel will take place in LA, Tokyo and the Middle East.
The Great Gatsby also opened impressively in the UK with ticket sales of more than £4 million, while Star Trek Into Darkness - last week's chart-topper - fell to third spot with £3.6 million.
