POLICE have sealed off an area of grassland off Upper Spon Street in Coventry following the discovery of a man's body this morning.
A member of the public found the body around 5am this morning on grass outside Spon Gate House flats and called the emergency services.
The death is being treated as murder and the area has been sealed off while forensic enquires begin.
The man has not been officially identifed at this stage but is believed to be in his forties.
A post mortem will take place in due course to establish the cause of death.
Officers at the scene are carrying out house to house enquires and checking CCTV in the area.
Anyone with information about the incident or who may have seen the man in the area early this morning or should contact police at Coventry on 101.

Man's death at Coventry flats 'no longer suspicious'
The death of a man near a block of flats in Coventry is no longer being treated as suspicious by police.
The body of a man in his 40s was found on grassland outside Spon Gate House flats on Upper Spon Street, at 05:00 BST on Saturday.
Detectives said they were no longer looking for anyone in connection with the man's death. He has yet to be formally identified.
West Midlands Police said a file was now being prepared for the coroner.
