Ratings: 'Endeavour' opens to strong ratings on Sunday night

Endeavour's new series launched to strong ratings on ITV on Sunday night (April 14), overnight data reveals.

The first proper series of the Inspector Morse prequel drama opened to 5.67 million viewers (22.3%) at 8pm.

Earlier, Stephen Mulhern's Catchphrase continued to perform well after last week's premiere, with 5.52m (25.8%) tuning in at 6.45pm. Off Their Rockers amused 5.45m (23.2%) at 7.30pm.

BBC One's Countryfile was the most watched show of the night with 5.69m (25.1%) at 7pm. Antiques Roadshow attracted 4.81m (19.4%) at 8pm.

The Village continued to slide but still brought in 5.05m (19.5%) for its third episode at 9pm.

Davina McCall's Five Minutes to a Fortune attracted 568,000 (2.5%) at 7pm on Channel 4, while The Secret Millions achieved 651k (2.6%) at 8pm.

My Big Fat Gypsy Fortune performed well, grabbing 2.57m (9.9%) at 9pm. A further 479k (2.6%) tuned in on Channel 4+1.

Channel 5's Once Upon a Time brought in 849k (3.3%) at 9pm, followed by Person of Interest with 727k (3.9%) at 10pm.

BBC Three's repeat of The Voice UK secured the highest non-sporting ratings on the multichannels with 904k (3.6%) at 8pm. Barely Legal Drivers attracted 488k (2.1%), while Family Guy won 543k (4.0%) at 11pm.

BBC Four documentary When Frost Met Bakewell was seen by 300k (1.2%) at 8pm, followed by Bakewell at the BBC with 211k (1.1%) at 9pm.

ITV2's broadcast of The Shawshank Redemption thrilled 616k (3.3%) at 9pm, with 138k (1.1%) tuning in on ITV2+1.

On Sky1, Glee brought in 273k (1.1%) at 8pm, while Hawaii Five-0 attracted 421k (1.6%) at 9pm

Sadly, though looking forward to this it left me disappointed.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
