Coronation Street topped Monday evening's (March 4) soap ratings as Karl Munro's behaviour took a sinister turn, overnight figures show.

9.41m (39.2%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 136k (0.5%) on +1 as Karl decided to kidnap Stella, while 8.98m (35.3%) returned at 8.30pm and 228k (1.0%) on +1 to see what Karl had planned.

EastEnders pulled in 8.33m (33.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Phil sabotaged Lola's chance to get more access to Lexi, while BBC Three's repeat screening secured 472k (3.3%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 7.29m (33.3%) at 7pm on ITV as Brenda went into denial over her health problems, adding 114k (0.5%) on +1.

Hollyoaks interested 1.09m (5.3%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Kevin was ordered to kill Maxine, while E4's first look had 742k (3.4%) at 7pm.

On Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 648k (9.9%) at 1.45pm and 891k (5.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away entertained 746k (4.1%) at 6pm and 505k (2.5%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.52m (22.8%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
