Coronation Street continues to perform well on Wednesday

Coronation Street stayed well above the 8 million mark outside of its usual timeslot on Wednesday evening (January 23), overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield soap pulled in 8.58m (36.9%) at the earlier time of 7pm on ITV as vengeful Kirsty falsely accused Tyrone of domestic violence, adding a big +1 figure of 634k (2.6%) an hour later.

Hollyoaks, meanwhile, attracted 1.28m (5.9%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 179k (0.8%) on +1 as Esther was left feeling more isolated than ever thanks to Frankie and Ruby. E4's first look secured 797k (3.4%) at 7pm and 107k (0.4%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours entertained 784k (8.6%) at 1.45pm and 866k (5.0%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 817k (4.1%) at 6pm and 406k (1.9%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors was seen by 1.74m (19.2%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
